  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for filling)
  • 4 oz cream cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together softened butter and sugars until fluffy. Add the egg and mix well.
  3. In another bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt together.
  4. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, alternating with buttermilk until fully combined.
  5. Scoop batter onto prepared sheets about 2 inches apart and bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  6. For the filling, whip together butter and cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth and creamy. Add vanilla extract.
