Ingredients
Scale
- 1 can (5 oz) high-quality tuna in water, drained
- 2 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1/4 cup celery stalks, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese, grated
- 2 slices sourdough or whole grain bread
- 1 tbsp unsalted butter
Instructions
- In a bowl, flake the drained tuna with a fork. Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped celery, salt, and pepper; mix until well combined.
- Butter one side of each slice of bread. On the unbuttered side of one slice, spread a generous amount of the tuna mixture and top with grated cheddar cheese. Place the second slice on top (buttered side out).
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and grill the sandwich until golden brown on both sides (about 3 minutes per side). Cover with a lid for the last two minutes to melt the cheese thoroughly.
- Remove from skillet, slice diagonally, and serve hot.
