Description

  • 1 head green cabbage
  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
  • 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 24 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Remove the core from the cabbage head and submerge it in boiling water for about 5 minutes until leaves soften.
  3. Remove the cabbage and let cool slightly; peel off 12 leaves.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, cooked rice, chopped onion, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  5. Spread half of the tomato sauce in a baking dish. Layer half of the cabbage leaves over it followed by half of the meat mixture. Repeat layers finishing with a final layer of cabbage.
  6. Pour remaining tomato sauce over the top and cover with foil. Bake for about 60 minutes.
  7. Optional: Sprinkle cheese on top during the last 15 minutes of baking.
  8. Let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
