Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef or lamb
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small sweet onion, diced
  • 4 whole pita breads
  • 1 cup tzatziki sauce
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 cup tomatoes, diced
  • 2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix ground beef or lamb with parsley, garlic, onion, oregano, cumin, salt, and pepper until just combined.
  3. Roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place on a lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  5. Warm pita bread in foil during the last 5–10 minutes of meatball baking.
  6. Assemble by slicing open each pita and stuffing with several meatballs. Top with lettuce, tomatoes, and tzatziki sauce.
