Description

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook the penne pasta al dente according to package instructions. Drain and reserve some pasta water.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil until shimmering. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes; cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Gradually stir in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
  4. Slowly add grated Parmesan cheese while stirring until melted and combined. If the sauce is too thick, incorporate reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
  5. Toss cooked pasta into the sauce and mix well with fresh basil. Serve immediately with extra Parmesan if desired.
