Instructions
- Cook the penne pasta al dente according to package instructions. Drain and reserve some pasta water.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil until shimmering. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes; cook for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Gradually stir in heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Slowly add grated Parmesan cheese while stirring until melted and combined. If the sauce is too thick, incorporate reserved pasta water to reach desired consistency.
- Toss cooked pasta into the sauce and mix well with fresh basil. Serve immediately with extra Parmesan if desired.
