  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch (for thickening)
  • 1/4 cup water (for thickening)

Instructions

  1. Sear the beef: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat with oil. Sear the beef chuck roast on all sides until browned.
  2. Prepare the crockpot: Add seared beef, onions, garlic, beef broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper into the crockpot. Mix well.
  3. Cook: Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours until the beef is tender.
  4. Thicken gravy: About 30 minutes before serving, mix cornstarch with water until smooth and stir into the crockpot until thickened.
  5. Serve: Shred or slice the beef as desired and serve over mashed potatoes or noodles.
