  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 4 fresh red chilies, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 2 spring onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Slice the flank steak against the grain into thin strips (about ΒΌ inch thick).
  2. Toss the beef strips in cornstarch until evenly coated.
  3. Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  4. Fry the beef strips in batches for 3-4 minutes each, until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels.
  5. In another skillet, combine garlic, sliced chilies, soy sauce, and brown sugar over medium heat; stir until bubbling (about 2 minutes).
  6. Return the crispy beef to the skillet with the sauce and toss well to coat.
  7. Serve immediately garnished with chopped spring onions.
