  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 can cherry pie filling (21 oz)
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add flour, baking powder, and salt; mix until crumbly.
  3. Stir in the almond extract.
  4. Press half of the dough mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan. Spread cherry pie filling evenly over it.
  5. Crumble the remaining dough on top of the cherries.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool completely before slicing and dusting with powdered sugar.
