  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk (warm)
  • 1/2 cup salted butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup salted pistachios (chopped)
  • 3 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and cocoa powder.
  2. Warm the milk slightly and mix in melted butter and eggs. Combine with dry ingredients until a dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Let rise in a greased bowl covered with plastic wrap for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. While the dough rises, chop salted pistachios and mix with chocolate chips for the filling.
  5. Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle (1/4 inch thick) and spread the filling evenly, leaving edges clear.
  6. Roll tightly from one end to create a log shape and cut into sections about 1-2 inches long.
  7. Place pieces into greased muffin tins and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
