  • 2 cups fresh cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  3. Reserve one cup of the mixture; press the rest into the bottom of the dish.
  4. Combine cherries, brown sugar, lemon juice, cornstarch, and salt in another bowl; let sit for 10 minutes.
  5. Pour cherry filling over the crust and sprinkle reserved mixture on top.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes until golden brown and bubbly. Cool completely before slicing.
