- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 medium sweet onion, sliced
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté until translucent (about 5 minutes). Stir in garlic powder.
- Season steak with salt and pepper. Sear in the same skillet for 3-4 minutes per side until browned. Remove from heat and let rest before slicing into bite-sized pieces.
- In a baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom. Add sautéed onions and steak pieces, seasoning each layer with salt and pepper.
- In a saucepan over low heat, combine heavy cream and shredded cheddar cheese until melted and smooth. Pour over layered ingredients.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for about 45 minutes until potatoes are tender. Remove foil in the last 10 minutes to achieve a golden top.
