Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine whole milk, dulce de leche, granulated sugar, and salt. Stir continuously until fully melted and smooth.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs until frothy. Gradually pour in some of the warm milk mixture while whisking to temper the eggs.
  3. Return the mixture to the saucepan over medium heat and stir continuously until thickened (about 5 to 8 minutes).
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Pour into serving dishes and cover with plastic wrap. Chill in the refrigerator for at least two hours.
  5. Before serving, top with whipped cream or your choice of toppings.
